Camps Bay is one of the most upmarket suburbs of Cape Town and many locals and tourists choose it as their no 1-holiday destination of choice when visiting South Africa. Camps Bay is well known for its palm tree-lined beach, natural rock swimming pool, extraordinary backdrop of the Twelve Apostles Mountain range and Lion’s Head. Camps Bay is perfectly located at the back of Table Mountain and is a short 15-minute drive to Cape Town City Centre and a 30-minute drive to the Winelands of Constantia making it the perfect holiday home from home to experience to all that Cape Town has to offer.
Since Camps Bay is a very affluent suburb, it hosts many of the finest 5-star villas designed by leading architects including SAOTA. The villas are generally very high end and include luxury amenities such as jacuzzis, heated pools, saunas, spas, cinemas, gyms, and private elevators. They also offer a fully-staffed experience including live-in staff, butlers, chefs, and personal drivers. At Cape Town Vacationer we offer additional concierge services to extend your experience including private drivers, security guards, babysitters, chefs, massage therapists, excursions etc.
Camps Bay Highlights
When to book: The best Camps Bay villas can be booked as far as 2 years ahead of time. Locals and tourists book way in advance for Summer and especially for the December holidays period.
Camps Bay Living: The area is very safe and feels almost like a village, it just one of those places that always feels like a holiday. You are surrounded by mountains and ocean, at sunset the sky turns red and orange, and the homes glimmer as the sunsets. There are lots of things to do including hiking, swimming, boating, running, dining, and visiting many surrounding attractions.
Camps Bay Beach: Located opposite The Promenade, Camps Bay Beach has been a Blue Flag Beach since 2008 and is very popular during the Summer months. The beach offers seasonal lifeguards since the currents can be strong, bright, and funky colored umbrella rentals and toilets on site.
The Promenade: The shopping mall is situated opposite Camps Bay’s beach on Victoria Road with a variety of restaurants, stores and a supermarket for your convenience. Enjoy shopping, dining, or sipping a cocktail here while taking in the magnificent sea and mountain views.
The Pipe Track Walk: Stay fit on your Camps Bay holiday by taking a walk along the Pipe Track which starts at the top of Kloof Nek Road. Start early to avoid the heat and you will be rewarded with views of the Twelve Apostles and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean.
Camps Bay African Craft Market: This unique African market is located along the extraordinarily scenic drive from Camps Bay towards Hout Bay. This stunning open-air market offers African curios, animals hides, beaded jewelry, and leather items along the sea, with waves crashing below you and a picturesque mountain drop behind you.
Tidal Pool: Camps Bay tidal pool located next to the beach is the perfect place to take a dip after a run or during sunset. The kids will love it.
