Knysna, the Garden Route’s gem, is located between George and Plettenberg Bay. Knysna is perpetually green due to its Mediterranean Maritime climate with year-round rainfall. It is surrounded by indigenous forests that stretch into the Tsitsikamma National Park area. Nestled between the majestic Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean, this gastronomic mecca of oysters and other scrumptious seafood is a must-see trip for any traveler. In the middle of Knysna is a lagoon that is sheltered from the sea by the monolithic sandstone “Heads” – and is best explored via boat or hiking trails in the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Knysna is a hub for art and craft, as well as adventure sports such as tree canopy gliding, kloofing, and abseiling.
