Plettenberg Bay is a seaside town on South Africa’s Garden Route. Central Beach, which is sandy, and Lookout Beach, which is rocky, both have surf breaks. Robberg Nature Reserve, to the south, is a rugged peninsula with hiking trails and the Stone Age Nelson Bay Caves. Birds of Eden, a free-flight bird sanctuary set in indigenous woodland, and an elephant sanctuary are located in the northeast. During migration season, whales congregate along the coast.
